The Wildlife Adventure of a Lifetime

Journey with Ian Murray, International Tour Guide, to South Australia's Eyre Peninsula to interact with some of the most amazing wildlife to be found on the face of planet Earth. 

Probably nowhere else on Earth is there such a profusion of wildlife, of both ocean and land based creatures.  All within touching distance and of such diversity and ecological splendor, that having been touched by them your life will never again be the same.
 
This stunning journey is limited to eleven people on each trip and to the months of June through to September each year. Over a period of 16 days you will enjoy these fantastic experiences...

 

  • Explore Adelaide City and the wine and grain region of the Barossa Valley.  Try the wine and enjoy lunch in this renowned region. Spend time and have smoko with Des and Margie Shanahan who farm 1,000 acres of grain near Freeling.

 

  • Two nights on world famous Kangaroo Island, one of the Earth's special places.Here take in the island's wild southern coastline and spend time with kangaroo, wallaby, echidna and koala, all in a beautiful natural habitat.  Combine this with an Australian sea lion colony, Fur Seals and 651 species of bird and you have the essence of this remarkable island.  We also take part in pelican feeding, a Fairy Penguin colony visit and a 'Wild Birds Of Prey' predator experience, featuring the world's third largest bird of prey, the Australian Wedge Tailed Eagle.

 

  • A Four night voyage on Princess II with awesome Rodney Fox Shark Expeditions.  Near the Neptune Islands in the Great Southern Ocean is one of the planet's great gathering places of the ultimate predator of the Ocean 'Carcharodon Carcharia', the White Pointer or Great White Shark.  Your chance to go face to face with a Great White in a surface cage, a diving cage or from the relative safety of the upper deck!  You will join an elite group - one of the very few people on earth to have ever seen a Great White Shark (and lived to tell the tale).

 

  • Swim with the Blue Fin Tuna.  Experience the adrenalin rush of swimming with the stunning Blue Fin Tuna.  Get up close with these lightning fast, immense fish that will effortlessly speed past you in the water.  It's like being in the water with electricity!  Have them surround you in a feeding frenzy.  These Tuna will create a surge that will make you feel a part of their pursuit of the bait as mammoth fish head straight toward you at up to 70 kph!!!!  View these fish from our underwater viewing tunnel, and hand feed them if you dare!  This world first is sure to get your heart pumping.

 

  • Baird Bay is a place of rare beauty.  A large estuary guarded by islands and reefs, it is home to resident Australian Sea Lion and Bottlenose Dolphin.  Alan and Trish Payne came here in 1987, fell in love with the place and never left. Their Ocean Eco Tours allows us to swim with the Australian Sea Lion, the inquisitive pups of the sea and with a resident pod of Bottlenose Dolphins. *Please note this activity is not available on journeys June, July and August. Replaced by same activity on Rodney Fox Shark Expedition.

 

  • The Head Of Bight on the Nullabor Plain, here is probably the greatest whale watchingto be had anywhere in the world.  Every year hundreds of Southern Right Whales make the long journey from the frigid winter waters of Antarctica to this bight.  Here they birth and rear their calves then mate before making the long journey back to Antarctica.  The cliffs of the bight provide an ideal vantage point to view these incredible marine mammals.  The females up to eighty tonne and their calves (15 feet long and weighing 1 tonne at birth) appear close enough to reach out and touch.  Being with these gentle giants is an experience that will never leave you.

 

  • Spend Two nights in a tented camp in the Gawler Rangers. Here in an environment akin to the Australian outback is an amazing variety of animal and bird life. This outback wildlife tour developed over twenty years from customer experience. Accommodation is at Kangaluna, a luxury standing camp with private facilities. For three days, you will absorb the unpolluted sounds of nature, marvel at the intoxicating colours of the changing wilderness landscapes and be fascinated by the brightness of the stars. This is outback Australia, diverse and colourful, from huge salt lakes, arid bush land to semi desert. The old volcanic landscape has stunning valleys, amazing rock forms and prolific wildlife, giving it a truly special beauty. The experience includes, viewing of wombats, large populations of kangaroos (three species) emus and colourful birds. Spring displays a brilliance of wildflowers.

 

  • Dive with the Giant Cuttlefish out of Whyalla on the Spencer Gulf. Your choice of snorkel or scuba dive with Adventurer Tony Bramley (or even a resort dive if you’ve always wanted to try scuba diving!). ‘Sepia Apama’ the Giant Australian Cuttlefish are the largest of the worlds 25 species of Cuttlefish. These chameleons of the ocean are top line predators in their own right, with 4 mating strategies, 3 hearts and green blood! And they are here in their thousands.
